This unit requires very little support after repair , however we occasionally have customers with issues on refitting units after being returned.
Common support questions are ;
- Still no sound
- No Bluetooth function
- Sound from CD but not radio
- Speaker crackle after short time
- Loss of channel
- No sound from front door speakers
Common Problems
STILL NO SOUND
This unit has no coding or protection issues – so will be a straight refit. No sound after repair will usually be down to the fact that there is no 12v supply to the amplifier, as the unit suffers from loud random noise , we usually find that the fuse has been pulled from the fusebox – it’s easier to do this than unplug the amp.
The unit itself has no fuse on the housing – the only fuse is the one in the fusebox.
Occasionally we find that people forget to plug all 3 plugs back into the unit – ensure both black and the one green plug are firmly inserted.
Also with certain units ( depending on year of car ) – the data line to the amp goes short to ground , this is due to the headunit being affected by amplifier failure – the remedy of this is to cut the white (usually) wire going to pin 10 on the smallest plug …. it’s the bottom left , second wire in .
If this resolves the issue with no sound , then you can send the headunit up for us to repair.
SOUND FROM CD BUT NOT RADIO
The radio ‘traffic announce’ function has been activated on the headunit – this cuts the sound and only gives audio on local traffic RDS information. Either reset the headunit or go into the RDS menu and switch ‘traffic announce only’ to the off position.
CRACKLE AFTER SHORT TIME
Check all plugs for a secure fit – occasionally we find these unit can be water damaged – check the plugs for corrosion, also ensure that the bracket is secure to the floor as this gives a good earth to the unit.
Very occasionally a unit may fail again after a certain amount of time – usually indicated by random white noise or intermittent operation – we give these units a lifetime warranty , so just contact us for warranty instructions.
LOSS OF ONE CHANNEL
If the unit has suffered from ‘machine gun ‘ noise failure – sometimes one or more speaker cones may be ‘overrun’ and will require replacing.
NO BLUETOOTH
Often you may find that there is no connection to recent bluetooth devices – this is due to the bluetooth module data becoming corrupt … the easy answer is to either ‘remove all stored devices’ or disconnect the battery for a short time then reconnect.
This will reset the bluetooth controller , you will need to ‘pair’ all new devices again.
Occasionally it may be necessary to unplug the module for a short time and reconnect – details are here

NO SOUND FROM DOOR SPEAKERS
Due to the age of the vehicles , we are finding it pretty common to have failure for one or both front door speakers . The door card will have to be removed to gain access to test … speaker impedance should be around 5 ohms
Refit Instructions
Unit is located under either the front passenger or driver seat – it’s not required to remove seat – you can slide it forward and remove the rear 10mm nuts – then slide it back and remove one further 10mm nut under a carpet flap .
Plug back the 3 plugs and refit the bracket
