This 6 channel DSP multimedia unit can be found in all variants of A1 / A3 / A4 from 20013 onwards. It’s easily identifiable as being fitted to the car as the unit is situated in the glovebox. Each channel has a max 40 watt output, the sub-woofer output rated at 80 watts (4 ohm). The total max output is 360 watts.
This unit is VIN paired to the original vehicle – also the Nav and other option are activated using ‘Software as Product’ codes … or SWAP codes for short.

Most of the reported problems with these unit are related to audio , common issues are ;
Once we receive the unit , it’s tested to prove faulty – then carefully disassembled and cleaned . The board is then inspected for any cracks or abnormalities.
The unit is then rebuilt using genuine parts
First of all the unit is disassembled and inspected and also electrically tested on our jig. The board is then cleaned of any residue and inspected for any cracks or flaws.
We use factory sourced production line components to ensure the sound quality is as precise as a Harman Becker should be.
Finally, once assembled – the unit is soak tested for 6 hrs under full load to ensure reliability.
Occasionally we see units that are beyond repair , this happens when the unit has had a badly previously attempted repair.

Audi MIB unit removal is fairly straight forward and should only take around 5 minutes.
Tools required;
The removal of the connectors attached to the unit should be taken with care not to snap the locking tabs.
Model numbers are usually located on the underside of the amplifier.
