Counterfeit Audi Q7 / A6 Bose Amplifier Units
There is a growing distribution of very substandard Bose MOST 6000 amplifier circuit boards.
This 10 channel DSP amplifier has unfortunately been reproduced by 3 ( to date ) separate Chinese companies – there are currently 3 different variants of the unit which range from ‘possibly passable’ to the untrained eye , to ‘very noticeably ‘ due to many parts missing.
None of the components have any moisture ( conformal coating ) protection and we find that the board degrades very quickly – also most ( 90% ) of the components used are non original and also of a poorer quality . Some of the very poor quality boards have mostly hand soldered components and are very often not soldered to even a reasonable standard.
The counterfeit units are often sold as a ‘ generic ‘ – one unit fits all scenario . This is completely untrue ! , there are many differences between A6 /A8 and Q7 models – although you may get sound , not all of the speakers will work – also – there is often no mention whether the board being sold is 2G or 3G – there is also no mention that the units will require component protection coding to function fully in the vehicle either ( another £120 at Audi for this service ) .
These units are mostly found on popular auction sites – they are sold as ‘ board only ‘ , most of them have the ‘Bose’ emblem on the circuit board covered up to avoid being removed from the ‘Auction sites’ .
You can identify them by comparing the images on this page – the first noticeable difference is the bank of 6 capacitors – they’re the wrong colour and also the wrong type of hotmelt on them – also many of them don’t have the metal screening can – the fibre optic socket is also noticeably different.
Apart from the usual ‘ Auction Sellers ‘ who have sourced them from China – who have no clue about operation and will supply no support when problems arise – there are also a couple of ‘repair specialists’ who – when faced with a repair that is beyond them – will substitute your original board with a counterfeit board , copy the data over , pretty much you’d be none the wiser until it goes wrong !
So far ( 2018 ) we’ve come across 20+ customers who have sent their units to us for repair ( after having paid for a previous repair elsewhere ) to be told the bad news.

First of all , we’ll tell you and also supply detailed images of the unit . If the unit is not too damaged we’ll give you the option of repairing it – although our warranty will be reduced to 3 months – or if it’s too damaged we can supply an original unit ( for a surcharge ) and clone the data over so it will just work in your car on return ( sometimes this may not be possible ).
We will return the counterfeit board if we supply you a replacement.
If you find that you have purchased one of these without knowing – you will be able to get a refund through paypal or your card company – we can supply you written conformation to back up your claim.
The lifespan of the copy boards can range from 3 weeks to 10 months – if you haven’t fixed the leak on the car , they can be destroyed within a couple of weeks – very often motor dealers fit them as a quick and cheap fix – once you’ve bought the car , it’s then your problem if it goes wrong – bear in mind that a new unit from Audi varies from £900 to £1200 .
